  • Laurie C - Perfect for a 9 year old girl

This was a present for my daughter and she has loved it. She has always wanted to do pottery on a pottery wheel and I couldn't pass this up for the price. It is battery powered, so it can be set anywhere. We just set her up at the kitchen table with everything she needed. It does come with everything you need (except for the batteries, I suppose) - tools, clay, paint, and even project instructions. We have only done one project so far and my daughter had a great time. The only problem we had is the clay kept cracking. We have wondered if we didn't spray it enough with water (the spray bottle is included, by the way). We are going to try with more water the next project she tries. She was also disappointed she had to wait for it to dry to paint, but that's a kid being impatient. The paint included is metallic/pearly looking, not your average acrylic paint. It doesn't look like a lot of paint to me, so I'm hoping there's enough for all the projects.

  • J. Cours - poor design but can be made to work

I bought one of these for my nephew so we could build it together. The first thing we discovered is that the construction process is fussy. To build the radio, you need to attach fine wires to bolts which you then tighten down with washers. It's all too easy for a wire to slip off the washer while you're trying to wrestle it into place. If you're building it with a child, you'll pretty quickly figure out which of you has more manual dexterity! Also, the plastic case is brittle, so be very careful, especially when snapping the tabs into place.
